BGMS HISTORY |
|
The
Barbara Gordon Montessori School opened as the Montessori Academy of
Grapevine in 1971 at the request of interested parents. Barbara
Gordon who founded the school, was a recognized leader in Montessori
education. By 1986, the school's increasing enrollment
precipitated a move to the current location, and the school was renamed
to honor its founder. Beginning with just two buildings, the
campus has expanded over the years to include approximately nine acres and ten
buildings.

BGMS PHILOSOPHY |
|
The Barbara
Gordon Montessori school is dedicated to the principles of education set
forth by Dr. Maria Montessori. The foundation of Montessori
education is love for the child, respect for each child as an
individual, and the desire to help each child take his or her place in
society. Though the face of our campus has undergone changes, the
heart of the school remains the same. We are dedicated to the
principles of Montessori and to its particular mission, as well as its
unique sense of community. Parents have always been an integral
part of the school's growth and development. Their commitment of
time, energy and financial gifts to BGMS ensures the school's continued
success. |
